This is the beginning of a whole new adventure in fashion design…
Yes, at the end of the month, I’ll be joining students from all around the world and going back to school to learn fashion design. I’m very excited by this right now even though it can seem like going backwards! But to grasp the whole situation, let me tell you the story from the beginning.
A few years back, this little corner of the Internet world came to be. At the time, I wasn’t happy with my job and felt I needed a creative outlet. I was doing a lot of knitting and some sewing at the time and wanted to share it with the creative online community. Being a avid online learner and basically learning every techniques from books or online videos, I’ve always been so grateful for the help and knowledge available out there. It became obvious I needed to pay it back and share what techniques and tips I’d acquired along the years. And so, Stitch-N-Smile was created.
Fast forward to a year ago. I was going to get married in the summer and had this crazy idea of making my own wedding dress. Conscious of the enormity of task, I began to sew a lot more to learn what I could about Couture techniques and evening dresses. I was obsessed, but wanted to make my dream dress come true. The dress became my proudest accomplishment and since then, I’ve not been able to stop!
Today, I enjoy more than ever keeping this blog alive and hope to be able to someday make something real out of it. I don’t know yet if it’ll be patterns, online classes or something else entirely. But to do so, I feel I need to up my game and start to get serious about it.
This is going to be an exciting journey. The fashion design classes I’m enrolled in are all about unleashing the creative side of sewing, all the while learning how to apprehend trends and drafting patterns. 🙂
At the moment, I have absolutely no idea of what to expect in terms of workload, but being a degree in fashion design, there should be some sleepless nights… However my goal is to maintain this space active and alive, even if I can’t post as often as I do right now.
The big upside of it all is this means more insider’s How-To about industrie techniques, a sneak-peek into the real fashion design process and hopefully a lot more garments sewn.
I sincerely hope you’ll stay along for the ride, something great is coming, I can feel it! 🙂
