As you all know, summer is often considered the wedding season.
If you’re invited to one, then chances are you already have found a lovely dress and shoes, but you’re looking for that special accessory that will complete your outfit.
That’s when the cute purse comes in!
It’s been a long time since I wanted to try sewing a purse with a frame. When I found this summer’s edition of Mollie Makes magazine, I was in love!
The next day, I bought the purse frame and started altering the pattern right away.
I kept the top pattern part as it was, because it was the exact match for my frame. However, I did change the size of the purse, making it bigger by adding height.
Then, I did a test with some cheap white fabric just to be sure everything will fit together and made a few minor adjustments accordingly.
I wanted something versatile and elegant, so the navy blue fabric and it’s discret leaves is just perfect! I specially like the way the interfacing and the thin fleece makes this fabric look. It’s as if it was a purse straight from the store.
Finally, I stitched the purse to the frame with some white cotton embroidery floss. This ended it up being very discret so the purse does look very professional! Inside there’s fewer stitches but they are thicker.
Eventhough it’s small, I’m very happy about it. I’m now itching to do another!
Did you also sew an accessory for this summer? I’m always looking for some new ideas! 🙂
