Recently, I’ve got married to my long time sweetheart in a handmade dress! Everything was perfect and we really had the best day ever. And we are topping it off with the trip of a lifetime!

Ayres Rock Australia

We are living our dream by going on a trip all around Australia and finishing by a week on a island in Fidji. So exciting! 😀
We left last week-end and everything was ready and planned except one thing, what to knit on the beach! 😉
It needs to be small and light, not too difficult and long enough to last until the end.
So the first thing that comes to mind is a lace shawl. That great because I don’t have enough of them
Well, I delude myself in thinking that I can always gift some of them if I have too much. 😉

Now here are the three patterns which made it into the top of the list.

Half life

Half life by Laura Nelkin. Because a Nelkin pattern is always a pleasure to knit, I’m considering doing this huge one. But even if I don’t knit it during my holiday, it’s definitively in my queue!

Rock Island

Rock Island by Jared Flood from Brooklyn Tweed

This beautiful and airy shawl caught my eye some time ago. And as it turns out, I just have the perfect silk lace yarn that would be gorgeous with it.

New Vintage Knit

Or a shawl from the New Vintage Lace book by Andrea Jurgrau

I bought this book during the Labor Day sales on Interweave. The doily styled shawls really are stunning. However, there seems to be some issues with the accuracy of the charts but I don’t mind. We are all humans, errors are normal. I’ll just have to check Ravelry before choosing and starting a shawl. No big deal.

By the time this is published I’ll have made my choice! To know what it is, follow Stitch’N’Smile on Instagram and get sneak peeks before the next blog post about it. You might even get a glimpse of a secret project I’m working on! Hint, hint!

More on this when I get home! 😉
